Coastal Lighthouse and Cool People

PS and PK

This week, our young artists created a bright lighthouse by the sea! They practiced drawing simple shapes and using colorful oil pastels to create the lighthouse, ocean, hills, and sunshine. Children also explored different art techniques by sponge-painting the sky, adding soft cotton clouds, and gluing real pebbles to create a textured shoreline. This mixed-media project helped develop fine motor skills, creativity, and an understanding of texture while encouraging imagination through a beautiful coastal landscape. We are so proud of their creativity and hard work!

This week, our older artists explored two exciting styles of contemporary art while strengthening their creativity and artistic techniques. Inspired by colorful portrait art, students learned to use bold color combinations, expressive brushstrokes, and layering to create movement and personality. They also explored abstract geometric art by organizing shapes, lines, and values into balanced compositions while practicing color blending and contrast. Through these projects, students developed a deeper understanding of composition, color harmony, shading, and visual expression, while building confidence in using acrylic paints to create unique and imaginative works of art.
