In today’s art lesson, our young artists (ages 3–6) explored the beautiful technique of suminagashi marbling! Using floating colors, children gently dropped and swirled paint to create magical patterns that look like waves and clouds. They then used their marbled paper to design these adorable pandas, adding simple shapes and a sweet heart to show love and connection. This activity helped develop fine motor skills, creativity, and a sense of wonder as each child discovered that no two patterns are ever the same—just like their unique artwork!

This week, our 6–11-year-old students explored suminagashi marbling art to create unique penguin artworks. Students learned how to create beautiful flowing patterns using marbling techniques, allowing colors to blend and move naturally to form one-of-a-kind textures. They then combined these designs with drawing by adding penguin shapes, outlines, and details. This lesson encouraged creativity, experimentation, and an understanding of organic patterns while helping students build confidence in mixing media and expressing their artistic ideas.
