Snowman

PS and PK

In our art class for ages 3–5, children explored a fun winter-themed artwork using oil pastels and watercolor. They learned how to draw and color with oil pastels first, then applied watercolor washes to see the magical resist effect appear. This process helped strengthen fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and control of art tools. Students also practiced color recognition, simple composition, and creative expression as they added details to their snowman and background. Through this project, children gained confidence, followed step-by-step instructions, and enjoyed experimenting with different art materials on paper.

This week, our 6–11-year-old students created cheerful winter snowman paintings while exploring color, texture, and composition. Using acrylic paint, students learned how to blend colors to create a rainbow background, layer shapes to form snowmen, and add details such as scarves, hats, and falling snow. This project helped students practice brush control, color mixing, and expressive details while encouraging creativity and seasonal storytelling. Each artwork reflects the student’s unique personality and growing confidence in painting skills. Students Students did not finish their snowman paintings this week and will continue working on and completing them in next week’s class. f
