Foil Art-Fish Bone and Horse Sketch

PS and PK

This week, our young artists (ages 3–5) explored texture and creativity through a mixed-media fish artwork inspired by nature. Using materials like foil, paint, and natural elements, children experimented with pressing, rubbing, and layering to create unique patterns and surfaces. This activity helped develop their fine motor skills, sensory awareness, and imagination while encouraging them to observe shapes and textures found in the world around them. Each child’s artwork is a special expression of their creativity, and we are so proud of their thoughtful exploration and effort!

This week, our 6–11-year-old students focused on drawing and shading techniques through a horse portrait study. Using pencil and white pastel on toned paper, students learned how to build form with light and shadow, create smooth blending, and add fine details such as the eyes, mane, and facial features. This lesson emphasized observation, proportion, and texture, helping students develop patience and control in their artwork. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to strengthen their realistic drawing skills and express detail with confidence.

Students will continue working on and finish their horse drawings next week.

Also, some of our 6–8-year-old students explored decorative line drawing through a patterned horse artwork. Students practiced drawing simple shapes and repeating patterns to decorate the horse’s body, while also adding creative details like flowers and a bright sun. This lesson helped develop fine motor skills, focus, and an understanding of patterns and design. Students were encouraged to be imaginative and create their own unique details, building confidence in their drawing abilities while having fun with creative expression.

Decor Vase -2

PS and PK

In our art class for ages 3–5, children created these textured mini bucket artworks using paint and clay. They explored brushing and blending colors to make beautiful backgrounds, which helped develop hand control and coordination. Adding clay shapes and dots allowed students to practice rolling, pressing, and placing, strengthening fine motor skills and finger muscles. This activity also encouraged creativity, pattern making, and sensory exploration as children felt different textures. Students enjoyed making their own design choices and felt proud turning simple materials into a unique art piece.

This week, our young artists (ages 6-11) explored the wonderful world of mixed-media sculpture by transforming everyday objects into meaningful works of art. Using simple metal buckets as their "canvas," students used air-dry clay to create raised, tactile figures that celebrate human connection and movement. You can see the energy in their work through the gold-painted figures reaching upward and supporting one another, symbolizing community, friendship, and joy.
