Dande"lion"

PS&PK-

Dandelions and lions can be friends in our imagination! A dandelion is a little yellow flower that looks like the sun, and when its petals spread out, it can look just like a lion’s big, fluffy mane. That’s why in this picture, the dandelions have happy lion faces. The word “dandelion” even comes from a name that means “lion’s tooth,” because the leaves are pointy like a lion’s teeth. When we look at dandelions, we can pretend they are tiny lions growing in the grass, smiling at us on a sunny day.

ASP-

This week in ASP, we explored the colorful “Dandelion” picture, while some students continued working on their “I Belong” artwork and Seal artwork. This colorful picture is a wonderful way for children ages 6–10 to learn about both nature and creativity. The white, fluffy circles represent dandelions, and the bright streaks in the background look like fireworks. Children can explore how dandelions change from yellow flowers to white seed heads, and how the seeds blow away in the wind to grow new plants. At the same time, they can think about how the artist used bright colors and patterns to turn something from nature into a magical, night-sky scene. This teaches children to observe real plants closely, use their imagination to see things in new ways, and understand how art can mix science and creativity together.

Playing and I belong (2)

PS and PK-

In this activity, children explored a joyful scene of nature with a big apple tree, bright sunshine, animals, and friends playing together. Coloring this picture helps young learners (ages 3–5) practice fine motor skills, recognize colors, and notice details in their surroundings. It also encourages creativity and storytelling, as children imagine what the animals and children in the picture are doing. This type of art activity supports both imagination and early learning in a fun, playful way.

ASP-

ASP students diligently completed their coloring projects and demonstrated thoughtful effort in their work. As part of the activity, they also composed sentences to explain the reasons behind their drawings. This process not only encouraged creativity and self-expression but also supported language development and critical thinking. Through combining art with writing, students practiced connecting their ideas with visual representation, fostering both artistic and academic growth.
